Smith-Cruz explains records management division and FOIL portal onboarding
Smith-Cruz describes the municipal records management division serving 65 government entities, overseeing digital records transition, and managing the city's open records FOIL portal, with City Council slated to onboard within the month.
The department's municipal records management division develops and administers records management policies,
operates record storage facilities, provides one-to-one liaison records management services to 65 government entities,
and we oversee the city's government's transition to digital records management.
We manage the city's open records FOIL portal, which is in process of onboarding all agencies of the city of New York, including city council, who is slated to onboard within the month, so that's really exciting, into open records.
To support records management across the entire city, records management is serviced by records management officers based within each city agency.
Doris has five records management officer liaisons, one of whom is with me here today, who is the department director.
And we train records management officers and provide them with resources informed by national field standards, and all records management policies are written in collaboration with the law department.
