Van Auken outlines constituent affairs, emergency response, and borough organizing
Van Auken describes the citywide constituent affairs team coordinating responses on deed theft, housing discrimination, and flooding; the emergency response team aiding during snowstorms and floods; and borough organizers attending over 240 community board meetings.
Our citywide constituent affairs team coordinates proactive, responsive action to New Yorkers'issues, from deed theft to housing discrimination, trash pickup, flood response, and much more.
For example, Constituent Affairs recently coordinated across multiple agencies to take action to aid a school experiencing recurring flooding.
Our emergency response team delivers crucial information and support to New Yorkers through snowstorms, wildfire, smoke, and floods.
We also provide compassionate touch points and wraparound services to New Yorkers after serious tragedies.
Our emergency response team organized a coastal zone preparedness call.
Over 150 New Yorkers living in areas most vulnerable to coastal storms received life-saving information about how to prepare.
And our borough organizing team maintains strong relationships with community boards and other longstanding civic partners, while also building new relationships with tenants, resident leaders, community-based organizations, and other neighborhood networks.
Borough organizing builds hyper-local relationships to create more ways for New Yorkers to organize around the issues affecting them and engage directly with City Hall.
Borough organizers have attended over 240 community board meetings, district service cabinet meetings, borough-wide cabinet meetings,
one-on-ones with district managers and or chairs, and other ad hoc meetings to build relationships with community boards and dig in on borough-specific issues.
