Chair Encarnación asks about ACS court report audit
Chair Encarnación asks about ACS's plan to audit court reports for improper immigration status references. Ali says ACS established monthly reviews by family court legal services deputy borough chiefs and the first audit is under review through the IRC.
Thank you, Councilmember.
So I want to get into some questions around ACS.
ACS indicated that they plan to audit their court reports to review any improper inclusion of immigration status.
Has that audit occurred?
Yes, that audit, I'm just making sure I have the correct information in front of me.
Yes, ACS has established an ongoing process where each of the five family court legal service deputy borough chiefs, that they actually review a set of those court reports every month.
These reviews are going to be logged.
They'll be assessed to audit for improper inclusion of immigration status.
And the first monthly audit has been completed and it is under review.
Okay, and so the next steps for that is that it will be reviewed, and that is being reviewed through the IRC, just to be clear?
Through conversations with the IRC and the agency, correct.
Okay.
