Council Member Lewis urges support for Resolution 626
Council Member Louis says Haitian New Yorkers are part of the city's fabric and deserve dignity, not fear. She urges colleagues to support Resolution 626 and calls on the Senate to pass S.4814.
Haitian New Yorkers are part of the fabric of this city.
They have cared for our seniors, staffed our hospitals,
hospitals, raised families, and enriched every borough they call home.
They deserve to live with dignity, not in fear.
For Pierre Richard, for every family that has paid an unbearable price, they deserve TPS.
For the 40,000 TPS recipients in New York City who wake up every morning wondering if today
is the last day here in the United States is troubling.
I urge my colleagues to support Resolution 626 and call on the United States Senate to pass and the President to sign Senate Bill S-4814.
