Cabán asks final in-person panel for additional city support ideas
Cabán asks whether there are other things the city should do. Angelica Jadunandan asks for LGBTQ+ representation in mandated curricula and school-level family support; Andy Bowen declines to elaborate but offers to follow up. Cabán thanks them.
I appreciate you so much.
Thank you.
I appreciate you.
And thank you so much for your testimony.
I just, again, want to provide an opportunity to both of you.
If there are other things beyond what you stated in your testimony that you think the city can or should be doing to support you and your families.
So I work on the CEC and we've been talking about mandated curricula and right now one of the programs is Wit and Wisdom.
There's no LGBTQ plus representation in that.
Teachers, if they choose to teach,
they have to supplement that.
They have to rework the whole lesson plan to include that.
And then it also, it changes from school to school.
Do you have a supportive principle?
We have guidelines in New York City that protect these kids, but it's not always
the case that they're followed.
And so just making sure that our kids are learning about, I mean, for my daughter to learn about people like herself
and to make sure that families are receiving support at the school level too, not just medical.
Yeah, thank you so much.
I am so overwhelmed with too many thoughts, and I am afraid of saying the wrong thing right now.
We'll talk.
We'll talk.
Having been a former, worked for the previous administration, I feel like I know too much.
So I'll step back.
We were very glad you were there.
Oh, thanks.
Thank you.
I'm not sure I was.
