Cabán asks panel what else city government can do; Cygnus Pavo prioritizes mental health access
Cabán invites the panel to suggest additional city actions. Cygnus Pavo says the hardest part of receiving care is finding therapists or providers aware of transgender struggles and asks for improved mental health and psychiatric care access.
Thank you so, so much for being here and for your testimony.
Actually, I have a question for you all, and I'm putting you on the spot, so if you can't think of it now, I just want to invite you to follow up with me, with my colleagues, so that we can be in conversation around it.
But I'm just wondering, you know, it's clear that you all support the three pieces of legislation that we heard about in the hearing today, but do you think that there are other things that the city government...
Could or should be doing to better support you and the folks in your community.
Ignore that.
And any one of you can jump in.
Any and all of you.
I guess for me, the hardest part of receiving care has definitely been mental health care.
It's hard to find a therapist or a provider that is gender, is aware of the struggles of a transgender person.
And so I really would like to see if there's any way to improve access to mental health care for transgender people, especially since our health and our mental safety is really being tested in this political climate.
So I think definitely just improving access to mental health and psychiatric care would be really helpful.
Thank you.
