Boyd cites 0.1% missed medical appointments and clinic dashboard
Boyd says DOC data show 0.1% of scheduled medical appointments were rescheduled due to lock-ins from January through August 2026. He defends safety-driven lockdowns and says DOC tries to produce people the same day when possible.
So the one data set we do have is specific to medical appointments that are scheduled.
And in regards to appointments that were, you know, rescheduled due to lock-in, that was 0.1%.
And so the department has made a lot of progress when it comes to producing individuals in custody to their appointment.
Especially during a lockdown, when it's safe to do so.
And Councilmember, you've been in our facilities and you've seen the corridors.
If something's happening on one side, an incident that's happening on one side of the building, we're not going to move people around until it's safe to do so, especially with a population who might either retaliate or react to another person in custody in the corridors.
We want to be very conscientious of that.
But we work very closely with CHS that if someone has missed their medical appointment due to a lock-in, we try to see if they can be produced the same day.
And so that's progress.
In addition, again, this clinic production dashboard, I think, is the path forward to strengthen that coordination, track things in real time.
I welcome the opportunity for you to come.
Tour GRVC and see the clinic production dashboard yourself and engage with uniformed staff to see how it's working.
We think, you know, modernization is the key here.
You know, we can follow up when it comes to specific lockdown incidents, but it's all incident driven, right?
Each situation is unique.
And so I would just take that into consideration.
Lockdowns are not just a broad brush, right?
It's incident driven.
depending on whatever the situation is that precipitated it.
The 0.1% that you mentioned, is that for 2026?
January 2026 through August 2026.
