Morano raises borough-based jail capacity concerns
Morano notes the city has thousands more people in custody than the 4,160 beds planned for borough-based jails. He worries the city may exacerbate mental health housing problems under new capacity. He yields back with time expired.
So just so for context, the reason why I'm asking is, as you know far better than I do, the city currently has thousands more people in custody than the 4,160 beds
planned for the borough-based jail system.
And the city itself says those new facilities are supposed to provide appropriate housing for people with medical and mental health needs.
So I'm just wondering if we're not already there, if we're going to be exacerbating the problem under the new capacity.
But I know my time's up.
Thank you.
