Eric Palatnik presents 1455 Coney Island Avenue rezoning overview
Eric Palatnik introduces the long-term care facility at 1455 Coney Island Avenue, proposing rezoning from R5/C2-3 to C4-5D. He describes the site's history as a demolished long-term care facility and vacant lot, and notes the city's Coney Island Avenue study.
Good morning, Council Member.
Thank you very much for making the time to chair this committee, and good morning to everybody else that's here.
We thank you very much, and good morning to Council Member Felder, and Happy New Year to anybody who celebrated for the past week.
We're here today on behalf of a long-term care facility located at 1455 Coney Island Avenue.
You can see it up on the screen there.
It's a rezoning proposed from an R5 to a C2-3, from an R5 slash C2-3 to a C4-5D.
The rezoning would facilitate the creation of a long-term care facility at the property, which has historically been utilized as a long-term care facility, which was demolished.
a few years ago.
That was in a previously repurposed bowling alley that was then turned into a long-term care facility.
That structure was demolished about five years ago and the lot has been vacant.
Since then, we have been pursuing this rezoning, which just happens to coincide with the city's recent announcement of a study of Coney Island Avenue, which is long overdue.
And it would seek to rezone the property, as I said, from an R5 to a C45D.
