Palatnik compares proposal to taller as-of-right medical building

New York City Council · Sep 23, 2026 · starts 0:10:18 · 36 sec

Palatnik points to a 148-foot medical building allowed as-of-right in the adjacent C4-2 district. He argues the proposed rezoning is smaller than what existing zoning permits and similar to surrounding R7A context.

The next slide is relevant because I mentioned a few moments ago the taller medical bill.

Oh, sorry, slide eight.

Member of the Public - Eric Palatnik

I apologize.

Where you were a second ago.

This slide is relevant because you can see the building on the right-hand side at 148 feet tall.

That's the medical building that's allowed to be constructed as of right in the CA2 district that shares the block with us.

The point that I'm simply trying to raise through this discussion is our rezoning, which is seeking to go to an R7 equivalent, is really similar to what's around us as far as existing R7 zoning, and it's even smaller than what the CA2 allows for.

That concludes my presentation.
