Brewer urges CUNY to apply for every possible federal and private grant
Brewer recalls her work under Mayor Dinkins, when city agencies applied for federal money and secured $90 million in six months. She asks who at CUNY is responsible for pursuing every possible dollar, including conservative foundations interested in international experience.
When I've worked for David Dinkins, I was head of the federal office and I made every single city agency apply for federal money.
We got $90 million in the first six months.
If you don't apply, you don't get.
So, and they had never applied.
So I guess my question is, what's CUNY doing?
Because this is the kind of thing that even the more conservative foundations are interested in.
So it's not like a political thing.
It's a we need to improve America in their head by giving people international experience, blah, blah, blah.
So I guess my question is who at CUNY is taking that we need to apply for every single possible dollar on this front.
They're not going to do other things, these foundations, that CUNY might want to do.
But go ahead.
That's my question.
