Stephen Ferst contrasts CUNY destination trends with national patterns
Ferst says CUNY's top destinations differ from national trends, where the UK, Italy, Spain, and France have long dominated. He says CUNY has purposefully created programs reflecting its students' diversity rather than replicating decades-old destinations.
I'll add here again that CUNY bests the nation, right?
So nationwide, the top destination is England, the UK.
Then you've got Italy, then you've got Spain, then you've got France.
Those are the top four.
They've been the top four for decades.
To hear the statistics where those are not CUNYs, right?
These are things that we've purposefully done.
How do we provide something different for our CUNY students?
How do we create programs that reflect the diversity of our CUNY students as opposed to doing what's been done for decades?
Going to England, going to Italy, going to Spain, going to France.
We actually do far better than the rest of the nation in that.
That's something that CUNY can be proud of.
