Banks presses for NYCHA employment and contracting data
Kreamer begins explaining the $20 million and $15 million allocations but Banks asks him to be specific to NYCHA. Kreamer says he does not have the information and suggests the host committee may be able to answer.
Thank you for the question, Councilmember.
I'll start off by just providing context on the spending itself.
So the previous administration provided $20 million for the World Cup, and then the current administration provided an additional $15 million.
Of that amount of money, the...
That money was then allocated for the use of the host committee.
The host committee contract with EDC through the city was based off a 2018.
Okay.
I need you to be specific to NYCHA.
Were there any NYCHA residents who obtained employment or contracting opportunities connected?
That was a long wind up.
So I would say that the answer to that question.
If you can bring the data, if you have to go find the data and bring it back, we'll appreciate it.
I'd rather you, if you don't have it now.
I do not have the information, but I was just going to say that after us, the head of the host committee will be here and he may be able to answer that question as well.
Okay.
Well, I'll just get this for the record as well.
You know, were there any NITRO resident-owned businesses who participated, who were part of the city or the host committee initiatives?
Any?
NITR residents who own businesses.
I can look into that data and get it for you.
I'll note that we worked with tourism and conventions to provide $75,000 grants to each borough president to facilitate watch parties and events across each borough.
And that included a variety of partnerships.
And so that's probably where we'll be digging in.
So it will specifically show any connection or affiliation with NITR residents.
Yeah, we can get back to you.
Thank you.
