Maloney asks about security funding and federal reimbursements
Maloney asks whether FIFA or the host committee provided resources for security or NYPD overtime. Lasry says the host committee worked with the federal government and received upwards of $60 million in federal reimbursements split across New York and New Jersey.
And did...
If any of them.
I think you heard my question.
Did we share them with who?
The question is, did FIFA or the host committee provide any resources or financial support for security at events, for NYPD overages that the city had, or attendees that were traveling to and from the events?
If you can speak a bit to the partnership there in financing the additional operational costs that came to both municipalities, but mainly I'm interested in New York City.
So we actually worked with the federal government on securing federal reimbursements for security for the World Cup.
So overtime funding, we were able to receive upwards of $60-plus million in federal reimbursements that we split across New York and New Jersey.
We are in the process of taking in all of the submissions right now and then making sure that those reimbursements get set up.
So there was a $625 million aid package that was sent, that was signed, that was passed by Congress and signed by the.
president for the World Cup split across the all the host cities.
We took again what were our best projections at the time and submitting for for those for the potential reimbursements and we believe that
You know, we are now taking in all the submissions, so there will be federal support and reimbursements for some of the security overtime overages that should help cover the World Cup costs.
And that is roughly $30 million or so or a little more than that?
We're still taking in all of the submissions, so I can get back to you on how the split worked.
