Maloney asks for permitting lessons for future large events
Maloney says permitting was a major point of contention for community groups and BIDs trying to do local activations. Honda says more time was key, the city communicated constantly with BIDs and small businesses, and coordination could always improve.
That was one pain point that I heard.
The second, I think we'll hear more about, but was on permitting.
We talked about this in February, but the permitting process was a major point of contention as it was a big challenge for some of the community groups or the bids and brands that were trying to do local activations.
So learning from this experience, of course, more time, but what are some of the other takeaways for future large-scale events like this?
Thank you for your question.
As you said, I think more time was kind of a key one here.
And so I feel really grateful to all the agencies that stepped up to do that kind of communication outward.
And we were in pretty constant communication with bids and with small businesses that were interested in hosting events.
I think also, you know, everything is a function in the end of resources around, you know, security and being able to spend.
And so we feel really good about folks doing both informal and formal events throughout the city.
And, you know, coordination could always be improved, but definitely a lot of learnings from the process.
Thank you.
