Riley asks how city will prevent burdens on residents and small businesses
Riley says large events can burden communities through street closures and disrupted block parties. He asks what steps the city is taking to prevent residents and small businesses from bearing disproportionate burdens.
Large-scale events could also be a burden on communities.
I know we did a lot of planning.
There was a lot of street closures.
Trust me, block parties were a big thing in our districts, and they could have happened because of this event.
So what are the steps that the city is taking to prevent residents and small businesses from bearing the disproportionate burden from events like this?
I would also love for SBS to speak a little bit to the outreach that we did around toolkits and kind of preparing for the World Cup.
But we'll note that we were working very closely with bids and we want to make sure, I think, with more time, could work more closely and be continuing that conversation.
And so looking forward to 2028 planning, but really wanted to work closely with folks to get out the word about how to apply for a permit when a permit is not required, all of those pieces.
And I think we did a variety of multimodal outreach, whether it was the small business toolkit, working with city council members, working with bids to get the word out.
And I'll let you speak more.
