Q&A

Thomas-Henry asks for 2025 tourism economic impact comparison

New York City Council · Sep 30, 2026 · starts 0:36:41 · 43 sec

Thomas-Henry asks whether the city knows the economic impact of New York City tourism during the same period in 2025. Nancy Mamana says she does not have that broken out but can follow up.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Thank you, Chair.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

My first question is, do we know the economic impact of New York City tourism the same period in 2025?

Nancy Mamana

Do you mean total visitor spend?

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Yes.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Well, like, because we're comparing, we're saying the World Cup generated $2 billion in total economic impact and $1.2 billion in direct visitor spending.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Do you know those numbers for 2025?

Nancy Mamana

We can come back.

Nancy Mamana

We don't have a broken out in that way, but we can.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Okay.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Just to get a better understanding of where we really net it from the World Cup.
