Thomas-Henry questions low share of food businesses in World Cup promotion
Thomas-Henry notes 1,000 food and beverage businesses participated out of roughly 20,000 in the city, about 5%. Mamana says NYC Tourism did comprehensive outreach through BIDs, chambers, and restaurant associations, but participation was voluntary.
We talked about the food and beverage businesses, a thousand local food and beverage businesses.
What was it?
133,000 of the drink specials and commemorative cups were distributed to 1,000 local food and beverage businesses.
How many food and local beverage businesses do we have in New York City?
I don't know that I have the latest count, but it's typically around 20,000, something like that.
Is that correct?
So roughly, I don't have a calculator in front of me, how much, with 20,000 businesses, 1,000 of those, what percentage?
We did a very comprehensive outreach plan through bids, council, chambers, Latino Restaurant Association, the New York Hospitality Alliance, Hospitality Association, our member base.
We went to non-members.
We went all throughout the city looking for participation as best we could.
It is voluntary, but we tried to really put a full court press on outreach.
Okay.
Found a calculator.
5%.
Is that right?
Yeah.
Okay.
