Thomas-Henry urges coordinated playbook and FIFA legacy contribution
Thomas-Henry says the city must build infrastructure to intentionally direct opportunities to neighborhoods. She calls for earlier coordination with BIDs, chambers, vendors, restaurants, and retailers, and highlights Resolution 655 on FIFA's $1 million legacy contribution.
We have to build the infrastructure that intentionally directs opportunities there.
That means coordinating earlier with bids, chambers, merchant associations, street vendors, restaurants, and retailers so businesses know what is coming and how they can participate.
And it means removing barriers and creating clear pathways for businesses across all five boroughs to turn major events into real lasting economic activity.
That also includes examining the commitments made to our city.
Resolution 655, which I sponsor, calls on FIFA to provide New York City with the $1 million legacy contribution associated with hosting the tournament that they promised.
Together, we are demanding New York gets what it was promised and better prepares us for what's ahead.
