DeFalco announces $43.2M expansion of Bureau of Coastal Resilience
DeFalco says Mayor Mamdani committed $43.2 million to expand BCR from six to 75 employees, adding engineers, planners, field crews, and flood resilience experts. She says the city is now building and operating projects.
Earlier this year, Mayor Momdami made a significant commitment to this work.
$43.2 million to dramatically expand the Bureau of Coastal Resilience.
That investment will grow the Bureau from just six employees to 75.
We're adding engineers, planners, field crews, and other flood resilience experts.
That matters because the city is entering a new phase of coastal resilience.
We're no longer simply talking about what these projects could look like.
We're building them.
We are operating them.
And we need to make sure that they continue protecting New Yorkers for decades to come.
Today, BCR oversees 16 active infrastructure projects in various stages of planning, design, and construction.
