Hankerson asks whether long-serving staff retrain
Hankerson acknowledges Phil Wong and returns to sensitivity training, asking whether staff hired years ago are retrained. Cerrone says it depends on the office and that the citywide team will retrain at the end of the year.
Thank you for that question.
To the best of my knowledge, the answer is no, none of them.
Do all event contracts require the promoter to repair grass or other damage that results from their event?
Prior to coming to the council, I worked for an organization that was located within a park.
It wasn't quite a conservancy per se, but they did have a license agreement, and they were the determining, they determined which organization, I'm sorry, which applicants received permits.
So that kind of was the basis for that question.
But they also...
We ran into an issue with a number of the groups because depending on the type of event, the grass would be impacted in a negative way.
So do all event contracts require the promoter to repair grass or other damage?
Yes, sir.
Thank you for that question, too.
And that comes up more and more that we see with large-scale events because they are impactful on the grass and on the park landscape.
And I think that's part of the balance that we have to do as public servants working for parks.
But yes, if there's a contract, the park has to be returned in the condition that it was prior to the event taking place.
Thank you.
Can parks provide applicants with a comprehensive checklist identifying the approvals and additional agency permits that may be required for their particular event?
Or is that something that's already in practice?
Yes.
It's in practice already.
For an event that's coming to Citywide, we have an outreach email.
It's a templated email that outlines all the documentation that we're looking for.
That's the first contact that the Citywide coordinator will have with the applicant once the application is assigned to our office.
And that outlines all the documentation, site map, production schedule, insurance.
