Chair Abreu asks about Vision Zero report and confiscation proposal
Abreu quotes the Vision Zero Reimagined report on removing illegal devices and asks if any agency opposes it, and they say no, and discuss equitable enforcement.
I will now transition to my next set of questions, which is, first, I want to quote again from the Visions Zero Reimagined report.
One of the Adamant stated goals is to perform, and quote, removal of illegal and unlicensed micromobility devices from city streets,
and quote, conduct targeted street sweeps and confiscation operations in areas with high concentrations of uncertified devices.
Do any of the agencies at this table oppose this part of the mayor's proposal?
That's in the Vision Zero Management Report.
Just want to just get that on the record.
No, I think...
Okay, all right.
So will it be implemented equitably?
We look to center equity in the way we approach all of our, whether it's design, enforcement, outreach.
So, yes.
What does equitable enforcement look like in terms of the confiscations and the sweeps?
I just want to make sure, and you support, does the PD support the mayor's proposals?
Yes.
Okay.
And the key is to do this, right, to your point, in a fair way, in a data-driven way.
We can't be everywhere all the time, right?
There has to be, this isn't half made about resources and deployment, and the key is to do that in a way that is data-driven.
Not anecdotal, but where are we seeing concentrations when it comes to enforcement in terms of injuries, crashes, and deaths?
And that should drive the decision.
So you're referring to objective measures?
Yes.
All right.
