Gustavo Ajche testifies against bills increasing enforcement on workers
Gustavo Ajche, a delivery worker for over 10 years, opposes Intros 2361, 2587, and 986, saying they will give NYPD more power to penalize workers and confiscate their tools.
Good afternoon, my name is Gustavo Che.
I'm a co-founder of the Libristas Unidos and I'm member leader of the Worker Justice Project.
And I'm using the apps for more than 10 years.
And I'm here today to share my concern about the entire package of bill.
I understand that the goal is to make the street safer for everyone, but
There is some concern about some of the bills.
So I express my concern and my opposition to Intro 2361, Intro 2587, and Intro 986.
These bills will be...
Give the power to NYPD to make more hard for delivery workers and I think we have to address this and that's what we're here for today.
You have to listen to us and to address all this situation in a good way.
Come against delivery workers again.
So this is, I see one of the bills says it's going to be fine delivery workers with $2,000 ticket and confiscate his tools to work.
So this is not right.
So we have to be addressed in a different way.
My speech is so longer, but I think I submitted.
I appreciate it.
So I'm not going to read everything.
This is something that we have to address and we're here to open to sit and discuss in a better way and find the best solution for all delivery workers.
We are 70,000 delivery workers that who use e-bike to survive, to keep feeding our families.
