Delany-Brumsey describes OCS mission and EO 15 rationale
Delany-Brumsey says OCS advances a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to safety, established by Executive Order 15 in March 2026, bringing gun violence, hate crimes, crisis response, victim services, and domestic and gender-based violence prevention together.
The Office of Community Safety advances a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to preventing violence and promoting safety across New York City.
Established by Executive Order 15 in March 2026, OCS brings together efforts to prevent gun violence and hate crimes, strengthen crisis response, support victims and survivors, and prevent domestic and gender-based violence.
Central to this approach is the recognition that community safety includes safety in our homes and relationships and protection from gender-based violence in all its forms.
Bringing NGBV into OCS allows us to strengthen coordination across government while continuing to build on existing expertise, programs, and partnerships.
