Menin asks efforts to fill NGBV vacancies
Menin asks what is being done to fill vacancies. Sethi says historical city hiring freezes caused the backlog, now lifted, and NGBV is working with OCS and the Deputy Mayor to fill positions, recently filling a Staten Island Family Justice Center director role vacant for three years.
And what are the efforts to fill those vacancies?
So we've actually been doing really...
The vacancy rates are from historical hiring freezes that the city's been under for many, many years.
And so now that those are lifted, we've actually been working with Commissioner Aisha and the Deputy Mayor of Community Safety's team to move these vacancies forward as quickly as possible.
One thing I want to highlight is, you know, one of the positions we filled recently was at our Staten Island FJC for the Director of Community Programs and Partnerships.
And that role had been sort of vacant for three years, right?
But that's the reality in which we were living in terms of city hiring and freezes and processes.
And so we're doing our best to kind of move through that backlog with support from DMCS and OCS.
