Menin relays provider concerns that restructuring minimizes GBV work
Menin says gender-based violence groups and survivors fear the administration is minimizing the work. Delany-Brumsey and Sethi deny minimizing, citing ongoing meetings, site visits, and continued access to NGBV leadership.
We have heard from many of the gender-based violence groups as well as survivors concerns that the administration is minimizing the gender-based violence work by this move.
And so what would you say to those concerns?
Definitely want to ensure that our partners, advocates, providers, survivors, that we are not minimizing the importance of this work.
As you heard from Commissioner Sethi, the incorporation of NGBV into OCS is an effort to escalate and elevate this work.
We are working very closely across the entire OCS team and with NGBV to ensure that we continue to engage very closely with our partners.
I have attended the NGBV Advisory Council that Deputy Mayor has.
We will continue to do that.
We've held dozens of conversations with providers, advocates, survivors.
We have conducted site visits.
We are going to continue to work.
very closely with our partners to ensure that the work of NGBV, the focus that has been built over the past 25 years, remains not only intact, but is strengthened as we build together.
No, I mean, I think, yeah, I think all of that, you know, makes sense.
And I think, again, what I would invite all of our survivors community or advocate community or provider community is to keep reaching out and keep, you know, connecting with us because we're here.
You know, I'm like, I want to say, I'm still here.
My email hasn't changed.
My number hasn't changed.
So please reach out and we will do our best to make sure that we're continuing to connect.
And because I truly believe like this work is going to be stronger if we move forward together.
