Shulman explains charter limits and her efforts to secure agreement
Shulman explains that under a charter proposal, if she rejects the project the mayor and borough president could still approve it, so she is using her limited opportunity to negotiate improvements; she notes the Fontaine and stores are key issues.
So let me just also reiterate, tell you, aside from the fast track, and I want to– I've been working with–
the applicant and your lawyer to make sure that this happens.
So, and that there's some kind of agreement.
All right, that's number one.
Number two is that in a charter proposal that was voted on last November,
If I reject it, the mayor and the borough president can vote for it.
and it'll still go forward.
So I can use my limited opportunity to make it better.
And I want to thank the applicant has been willing to do that with me, which they don't have to, by the way.
So we're trying to do what we can.
And those are the big issues is the Fontaine and the stores, because I use those also.
You know, I live in the end pocket towers.
So I go over there all the time.
The fruit store, all of them.
So we're trying to do that.
But like I said, I just want people to understand what the options are.
They're limited at the moment.
And so we're going to try to do the best agreement that we can.
