Wallace announces agreement in principle with Fontaine and retail preservation efforts
Wallace says Benenson has listened to the community, is close to a documented agreement with the Fontaine neighbors, and will discuss preserving retail tenants and labor union support.
We have communicated with Council Member Lynn Shulman from early ULERP days.
We have listened to the community, and I'm pleased to preview that we have.
I don't want to overstate.
We are very close to an agreement.
We have an agreement in principle, and we think we'll have a documented agreement with the neighbors at the Fontaine.
They're here today.
They can speak for themselves, and I don't want to put words in their mouth.
But thanks candidly to their good counsel, both the land use lawyer and another former member of the council, Dominic Rechia.
We've had a very open line of communication, and I think that has served everybody well.
Finally, you're going to hear more about our response to community concerns, including efforts to preserve the current retail uses.
Stay together post-development with those tenants, as well as labor unions who are here to testify as well.
With that, I'm going to turn it over to Rachel Loeb.
