Chair Gutiérrez asks about centralized enrollment process
Gutiérrez asks about the decision to use a centralized enrollment process. Liss says it's built on the MySchools system used for 3K and pre-K, allowing families to apply to multiple programs in one place.
I had a question about how providers were able to enroll system.
I know in earlier iterations of child care programs, providers were able to enroll on site.
Can you all speak to the decision for a centralized enrollment process for or application process for 2K?
So the centralized application process, which we've had in place for 3K,
and pre-K for many, many years is something that we value because it allows families to apply to all their programs in one place as opposed to families having to go navigate multiple different processes.
It's also a mechanism for providers to be able to access perhaps a larger pool of students because families who may not have known about them are able to find them through the application process.
And so given that that is the system we have in place for 3K and pre-K, we built the 2K application on top of that into the same MySchools interface.
We are continuing to look at how families, particularly for their youngest children, interact with this system and how it works for providers and where there may be systemic challenges we need to address in the future, knowing that families...
Are used to different kinds of processes for a two-year-old versus a kindergartner.
So it's something we'll continue to look at to make sure that families and providers are supported through the process.
But we do believe that a centralized enrollment system, you know, is a mechanism for us to be able to meet the maximum amount of family need and to support all providers to find and access enrollments.
