Chair Gutiérrez asks about transportation and OmniCards
Gutiérrez asks about transportation challenges and OmniCards for 2K families. Phillips says they work with the transportation division for children with IEPs and prioritize unhoused families.
Okay, and then I guess, are you all thinking about transportation challenges for any of these families?
Is there a thought or a conversation around OmniCards to folks in 2K, obviously, yes, but 3K and pre-K as well for access?
So if a child has an IEP or has a special reason for transportation, then we are working very closely with our transportation division to make sure that the child and the family are getting the resources that they need.
I know that we've been prioritizing the communities, families who are unhoused, and making sure that they are receiving the support that they need from a transportation perspective.
Thank you.
And is there information available for families about their ability to access the transportation team?
How readily available and how easy is that for families who are, for the first time, going through the My Schools process and who have this need but not really sure how to navigate or where to put this information?
We do try to make sure that that information is available in multiple languages that families speak.
Additionally, we are in communication with the programs to make sure that they also can answer the questions because they are often the first point of contact that family will go to.
So that's, you know, the information is available.
And, you know, we're, especially as this expansion is having, looking for ways that we can make sure that that information is even clearer.
