Joseph asks about pay inequities between CBOs and DOE educators
Joseph asks about plans to address pay inequities. Liss acknowledges wage equity is a priority and a longstanding problem they must address head-on.
So now we're going to talk about the real thing, right?
What are the plans to address pay inequities between home-based CBOs and DOE educators, right?
We want to expand the workforce.
That's beautiful.
We want to sustain that workforce.
That's great.
But how do you keep folks working?
In this city when we talk about affordability.
Yeah, absolutely.
And we know this is a big priority for us.
We know that wage equity is something we must address in the early childhood sector in order to support our early childhood educators and ensure they can raise their families and live and thrive here in the city.
We have seen these inequities in place for many, many decades.
So this is not a new problem, but it is a problem we know we must address head on.
I know we've discussed with you as a subcommittee and it's something we will be actively working to address.
