Ortiz details DCWP outreach to hotels, tourism, and social media
Ortiz says DCWP builds ties with the industry, works with the Hotel Association and NYC Tourism, canvasses Central Park, and uses social media to educate tourists. He says the goal is an ecosystem of information rather than one tool.
Thank you, Chair.
Let me take that question to recap kind of the educational initiatives we've been taking.
Because I hear your point.
I think that is a difficulty when there's a moving group that's not based in the city.
So what we've tried to leverage is...
I guess really a relational aspect to this, creating deep ties with the industry to make sure they understand their obligations for compliance, but also so they can help disseminate the educational materials that we've developed for tourists in general, but also in pedicabs in particular.
We've worked also with, for example, the Hotel Association, New York City Tourism.
We've also done canvases of certain areas of the city, like Central Park, to meet consumers directly.
And we've also been trying to leverage as much as possible for tourists coming to the city, our social media footprint, which we've been expanding in the past nine months, to showcase our partnership with the industry and the obligations of the industry, too.
