Council Member Banks Supports Intro 684 on Gifted and Talented Access
Banks speaks in favor of Intro 684, arguing families should not need money or connections to access quality education, and thanks Council Member Zhuang for her leadership.
Thank you, Temporary Majority Leader.
Today I'm proud to vote.
I think the proper phase is majority leader and temporary.
There we go.
Today, proud to vote in support of Introduction 684.
I want to first of all thank Council Member Susan Zwong for her leadership on this particular bill.
Intro 684 would examine how language barriers and geographic location affects access to early elementary gifted and talented programs.
Too many families struggle to find the right programs and understand the process or to secure the services their children are entitled to receive.
A family should not need money or connections or advanced understanding of the school system to obtain a quality education for their child.
This bill will help us identify where disparities exist and recommend practical ways to address them.
Again, I encourage my colleagues to vote in favor of this particular bill.
And again, thank you so much for your leadership, Councilmember Swann.
Thank you, Councilmember.
Now we have Councilmember Lee, followed by Councilmember Vernikoff.
