Sanchez requests 311 volume data for EJ vs non-EJ communities
Sanchez asks for data comparing 311 volumes in environmental justice communities versus non-EJ communities. Anderson says DSNY receives 311 requests from every district but does not have that specific breakdown on hand and can perform the analysis.
Do you also have, and this is a large data set, but could you help explain if you have the data, the sanitation 311 volumes
in environmental, in EJ communities versus non-EJ communities and what that looks like?
Are we making 311 complaints relative to everyone else?
So, yes, everyone makes 311 complaints, every neighborhood in New York City, to the Department of Sanitation, because we have an incredibly high volume of 311, both complaints and service requests.
It's not all just a complaint.
Sometimes people are asking for something.
So we do see 311 call volume from...
every sanitation district and section.
I don't have specifically in front of me the breakdown between EJ communities and non-EJ communities or between the racial equity communities that are identified in the racial equity
report and non-racial equity communities, but we can certainly do that analysis.
I would really appreciate that.
That would be really great.
I also want to mention, if I have not mentioned, we've been joined by the incomparable Councilmember Chanel Thomas-Henry.
With her presence, I also want to give a huge plug and shout out.
Roosevelt Avenue needs more trash cans immediately.
But do you have any questions before?
Great.
Okay.
