Q&A

Aldebol asks how DCAS amplifies program information to employees

New York City Council · Oct 16, 2026 · starts 1:12:11 · 1 min 21 sec

Aldebol asks how DCAS gets the word out about programs; Porter describes monthly meetings with about 200 agency personnel officers, and Outar notes direct emails and information sessions for scholarship programs.

Shirley Aldebol

And how are you amplifying those message across city agencies and how are you getting the word out?

Shirley Aldebol

Again, all of these programs sound wonderful, but if people don't know about them, they won't take advantage of them.

Katrina Porter

Yes.

Katrina Porter

So we have a community.

Katrina Porter

of HR professionals that we meet with on a monthly basis.

Katrina Porter

They're called agency personnel officers.

Katrina Porter

It's about 200 professionals from across city government representing all city agencies.

Katrina Porter

And we have programs like CUNY Reconnect come and present information and share resources at this meeting so that those APOs can then share that information with employees at their agency.

Katrina Porter

So that's just like high level how we help to amplify programs like CUNY Reconnect.

Kadian Outar

And I'll just, sorry, add in terms of like our graduate and scholarship programs, we send that information directly to the city employees.

Kadian Outar

So that way they're able to determine interest and then we host information sessions so they can ask more questions.

Kadian Outar

So we go through the APO pathway, but also try to get a direct path to the employees when possible.

Shirley Aldebol

I'm going to turn it over to Council Member Narcisse if you have any questions.

Mercedes Narcisse

Thank you, Chair.

Mercedes Narcisse

Thank you for being here.
