Hanif asks about overlapping disability and source of income complaints
Hanif notes about a quarter of housing voucher users are New Yorkers with disabilities and asks how many complaints involve both disability and source of income discrimination. Kamuf Ward says CCHR does not have that breakdown but will follow up.
Thank you.
And just to build on Councilman Repstein's question, we know that approximately a quarter of people that use housing vouchers are New Yorkers with disabilities.
How many complaints at CCHR involve both disability and source of income discrimination?
So we don't have the breakdown of where we have both, but we can certainly follow up with you.
We know that disability often is coupled with another protected category, be it source of income, race, gender.
And so we can share that information and follow up.
Great.
And then are these cases counted under both categories in CCHR's annual reporting?
It will actually depend on the specific matter because someone might come to us alleging source of income discrimination.
They might be a person with a disability and they have a separate claim that way, or they might not be filing the claim.
So that's a kind of fact specific question.
