De La Rosa criticizes evasiveness and asks about NYC AI deployments
De La Rosa says Castillo-Madrid's lack of knowledge about the firing erodes public trust and notes the Council had to use subpoena power; she then asks whether SpaceX sells or deploys AI for hiring, tenant screening, lending, schools, or city agencies, and Castillo-Madrid says models are widely available.
Yeah, I mean, you just finished saying that the company sends company-wide emails.
Before lunch and something of this nature that has been reported that this council already has the information but yet you're an internal
agent of your company and you have no idea about this firing it's hard to believe and at the crux of this issue is trust and the public's trust
and when you all come before us and do not answer our questions or purport to not know
It erodes the public's trust, and that is part of the problem and how we got here.
And it's also shameful that, you know, the speaker had to use,
the council's subpoena power to even get you here.
We could have done this last week for the answers that you're giving us today.
Does your company, well, first of all, let me acknowledge that we've been joined by Councilmember Narcisse.
Thank you for being here.
Does your company currently sell or deploy AI systems in New York City to employers for hiring, to landlords for screening prospective tenants, to lenders, to schools, to city agencies?
Our models are widely available to the public.
Do you sell them to the city of New York?
I'm not aware of specific cases where we have sold or not sold.
I'm not part of the team specifically, but I will say that all our models are widely available for the public.
Your global government affairs, the city of New York is a government entity.
I'm quite confused about your role in the company.
