Menin challenges Castillo-Madrid on Devin Kim's firing
Menin interjects that former SpaceX employee Devin Kim was reportedly fired after raising serious safety concerns and asks why; Castillo-Madrid says she is not aware of that specific case, and Menin says she finds that not credible under oath.
I just want to interject for a minute because Devin Kim
One of your former employees was reportedly fired after he sounded the alarm about serious safety concerns.
Why was that?
I'm not aware with that specific case.
What I will say is safety is at the core of everything we do, and we take safety very seriously.
And everybody has an ability to say something when they see something.
We have even for...
before a lunch, everybody receives an email from leadership saying, if you have any reason to believe there's a safety concern, please let us know and we'll delay anything that's happening.
So like I said, we take safety very seriously and we'll delay any release of a model.
But if you take safety very seriously, why would Devin Kim, who sounded the alarm about major safety issues, which he brought to leadership as soon as he did so, he was fired.
I'm not aware of that specific case.
I don't understand if you can say you're not, I mean, you're under oath.
So you, under oath, you're not aware of anything regarding Devin Kim.
I'm not aware of that specific case, Madam Speaker.
I mean, okay, it was widely, it's been in the news, it's been on social media.
I just find that not credible.
I'll pass it back over to the chair.
