Q&A

Chair Williams asks about interagency coordination plan and cultural infrastructure

New York City Council · Oct 19, 2026 · starts 1:23:32 · 1 min 11 sec

Chair asks if the charter-mandated interagency coordination plan exists; Vij points to Create in Place and a monthly interagency task force, but Chair says the plan sounds more comprehensive and Vij concedes it is fair to say DCLA does not have it.

Nantasha M. Williams

Okay, just a few more questions.

Nantasha M. Williams

So the charter calls for an interagency coordination plan.

Nantasha M. Williams

Was that plan created?

Nantasha M. Williams

Is it written?

Nantasha M. Williams

Are you able to share it?

Diya Vij

I believe that the response to that plan was really can be found in Create in Place, this newish program that was launched in 2024 that

Diya Vij

specifically responds to cultural organizations of all sizes, particularly very small ones that are at risk of losing.

Diya Vij

their space.

Diya Vij

And there is a really large interagency task force that meets monthly around issues of space, real estate, and cultural access.

Diya Vij

And I'm happy to share more information about that.

Nantasha M. Williams

Yeah, I think, I mean, I don't have like the charter language in front of me, but I think it was more comprehensive than like

Nantasha M. Williams

a create in place program.

Nantasha M. Williams

It was more so around like how do you embed cultural arts within all the various city agencies.

Nantasha M. Williams

So yeah, DCLA was supposed to create a interagency coordination plan around that.

Nantasha M. Williams

So I don't, sounds like maybe you don't have it.

Nantasha M. Williams

Is that fair to say?

Diya Vij

I think that's fair to say.
