Chair Williams asks about cultural participation and disability gains
Vij cites IDNYC's 805,000 memberships and Culture Pass's 560,000 reservations as access gains, and says the Disability Forward Fund has provided about 600 grants totaling over $6 million.
What evidence shows increased cultural participation among residents of historically underserved neighborhoods?
Yeah, we have, we do collect this information from the CIG, which we can share afterwards, but I thought that the numbers
around cultural access that came out of the cultural plan were like pretty staggering, like the IDNYC 800 plus thousand memberships, the culture pass over 150,000.
I'm trying to find it.
Where's Culture Pass?
Oh, gosh.
Over 560,000 passes reserved to dates of Culture Pass.
And Culture Pass, of course, is through the library.
So those are all New Yorkers.
And same with IDNYC.
Those are all New York City residents, 805,000 of them that received one-year memberships at at least one cultural organization.
So that is like a dramatic shift in access.
What measurable gains have disabled artists and cultural workers made in employment, funding, and leadership, not only physical access to facilities?
Yeah.
The Disability Forward Fund is given to CDF applicants, and same with the Language Access Fund.
And so to date, there's been about 600 grants totaling over $6 million for that, and that's access, but that's also
funding for disabled artists to be able to perform or present their work in spaces or to do outreach to disabled communities.
