Chair Williams questions who tracks CreateNYC implementation and staffing
Chair asks who tracks implementation; Derek Wang says the plan is updated biannually and a team effort, but Chair notes CreateNYC is not his only responsibility and asks if staff are assigned specifically.
Okay, the charter makes DCLA responsible for implementing and overseeing the plan.
Who currently tracks implementation across agencies and what staff and budget support that work?
Yeah, we report out through our Create NYC website, of course, through the MMR, and Derek actually holds a lot of the work for the agency, so I'll let you put some more color onto that.
Yeah, so the plan is updated biannually.
So every two years, we upload the latest action plan item updates on our main website.
And then the key indicator, we also just updated the website as well.
So you could see exactly what we've accomplished throughout the years.
And who tracks that?
Is that you?
I'm sorry, could you read?
Who tracks that?
Who tracks that work?
So who updates?
It's a team effort.
It's commission unit, you know, the chief of staff.
We all work together to make sure.
So is there a specific staff assigned to advance Create NYC or is it?
It's a hodgepodge of people having to take on this task in addition to all their other responsibilities.
Because, like, what is your title?
I'm special projects manager, so I did work with Dia on the creation of.
But, like, Create NYC isn't your only thing.
No, Derek is in the CIG unit.
But I will say, like, over these 10 years, so much of the Create NYC plan has been institutionalized, and so much of its work comes out of every single unit.
It's kind of a lens that everyone takes to approach their work.
So like the CDF reforms, that lives within the CDF unit, right?
And like how to think about equitable funding or percent for art when they're commissioning artists.
What does equity look like geographically?
Also who the artists are, what community engagement is.
So at this point, it really is like spread out as part of everybody's job.
And the data tracking is...
also a team effort and Derek kind of brings it all together and spearheads it for us.
