Dinowitz discusses Regents exam changes and Seal's diploma role
Dinowitz says the State Board of Regents is moving to end specific Regents exam graduation requirements beginning with the class of 2028. He notes the Seal can currently replace the second social studies Regents exam but will no longer count toward a diploma under the state plan.
Last month, the State Board of Regents authorized the State Ed Department to move forward with ending the requirement for students to pass specific set of Regents exams to graduate, beginning with the class of 2028.
Today, a student can use the seal of civic readiness in place of the second Regents social studies exam.
Under the state's plan, the seal will no longer count towards a diploma.
It would still be a recognition, but it's worth the students will depend on what colleges do with it.
