Assemblymember Benedetto supports City Island ferry
Benedetto helped bring ferry service to Ferry Point Park and says extending to City Island would boost tourism and access to Pelham Bay Park; he suggests future Orchard Beach and Co-op City service.
And the first panelist is going to be Assemblyman Michael Benedetto.
Thank you for your patience, Assemblymember.
Thank you very much, Chairperson Mahoney.
I appreciate that.
Forgive me, Chairperson.
Your mom.
Congresswoman Mahoney, am I correct on that?
Maloney, but yes.
Yes, I'm sorry and wish her my best, a dear friend from long ago, and I hope she's doing well.
Listen, I just want to weigh in on the ferry towards.
City Island.
I was instrumental years ago making the ferry to Ferry Point Park a reality, and it has proved to be a boon towards
my community.
I believe extending that route to City Island would also be well received in that community overall.
It's a community that should be.
Made accessible to the entire city of New York and the people of New York.
It is a wonderful, wonderful place to go to, perfect for tourism and enjoyment.
You know, not only for City Island, touring City Island, but also people who want to possibly go picnic in Pelham Bay Park.
And not only picnic, but also take advantage of the two golf courses that go on there.
It's a wonderful, would be a wonderful addition to the ferry service that you have.
And maybe later on, when that is finally all accomplished, maybe we can talk about the ferry going towards.
the Bronx Riviera, Orchard Beach, and to Co-op City,
the largest Mitchell Lama complex in the state of New York, and with 40,000 people, making that accessible as well.
Today, please consider and look at intelligently the City Island Ferry.
Thank you very much for listening to my testimony.
I appreciate it.
Thank you very much, Assemblymember.
Any questions for the Assemblymember?
Thank you.
