Q&A

Thomas-Henry asks about Willets Point transportation study

New York City Council · Oct 20, 2026 · starts 1:24:27 · 1 min 5 sec

Thomas-Henry asks if EDC studied transportation access for Willets Point development; Fredrickson says the environmental review likely had a transportation chapter.

Shaun Abreu

Thank you, Councilmember Thomas Henry, followed by De La Rosa.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Thank you, Chair, and apologies if any of these were asked as I'm running in between hearings.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

My question is, during the EDC is intricately involved in the Willits Point development from the soccer stadium to the housing, at any point in time was there a study for transportation access to this point given the new population?

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Community as well as the stadium.

Anton Fredrickson

Thanks for the question, Councilmember Thomas Henry.

Anton Fredrickson

I can check on that for you, but I'm assuming as part of the Euler process, there would have been in the environmental study at least a look.

Anton Fredrickson

There would have been, I think, a transportation chapter, but I can definitely check on that for you.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Yes, I would love that, and to see what the recommendations were.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

Considering what's happening in that corridor.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

And since that was originally approved, there is another development in there, Metropolitan Park, that's also bringing increased traffic.

Shanel Thomas-Henry

So curious to know if EDC has started to run an analysis of that.
