Ariola honors EMS and first responders, notes 1.6 million medical calls
Ariola thanks EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters for delivering critical emergency medical care and responding to more than 1.6 million medical calls annually. She says EMS workers face stressful conditions, long hours, and are vastly underpaid despite their life-saving work.
As we all know, our first responders, notably our EMTs and paramedics, but also firefighters, are tasked with delivering critical emergency medical care throughout our city.
These dedicated public servants routinely provide life-saving care and respond to more than 1.6 million medical calls each year.
We are forever grateful for your service.
At this time, we must acknowledge that the EMS workers undertake an immensely difficult job due to stressful work conditions, long hours, and challenging work.
Not only that, EMS workers, particularly employed by the FDNY, are vastly underpaid.
For the vital jobs that they do.
Yet despite these obstacles, each day thousands of ambulance workers strive tirelessly to serve the city and deliver timely emergency medical care to all New Yorkers.
