Epstein asks H&H about SHOW, Bridge to Home, and B-HEARD expansion
Epstein asks H&H about expanding the SHOW homeless outreach program, the Bridge to Home program, and B-HEARD mental health response. Motzquist says he is not familiar with some details but will follow up, and notes H&H works with 911, FDNY, and NYPD on B-HEARD.
I want to just turn to the H&H for all possible.
So I'm wondering, so we have the show program, which sends people out from H&H systems to locations.
I'm wondering, has there been a conversation about expanding show to relieve some of the tension on some of these calls?
I apologize, I'm not familiar with the show program.
It's basically the homeless outreach and wellness program.
And then we have show vans down by me that come from Bellevue and up in Harlem.
So it would be great to know from H&H where you guys are thinking about show and the expansion of show.
Yeah, I would have to get back to you on that.
Yeah, I really appreciate you getting back to me about that.
And how about Bridge to Home?
Like, you know, do you know about the Bridge to Home program?
I'm not as familiar with that as well.
Okay, so the Bridge to Home program, which is another program operated at H&H, which I think you should become familiar with because this is NHH.
program creates beds inside of hospitals that provide ongoing care for people where they have a door and allows people who may be in and out of the system to have a stable place
to be till they can get into a supportive housing unit.
So I'm wondering from H&A's perspective, what's the opportunities to expand on Bridge to Home, which may also reduce some of the call volumes we're talking about?
Yeah, I will get back to you on that information.
Yeah, I'd appreciate that too.
And then I know we talk a lot about Be Heard and kind of the pathway to Be Heard.
I'm wondering how H&A is operationalizing the expansion of Be Heard.
Once again, those are great details I don't have ready for you right now.
I can get back to you on it, but I know we are partnering with 911, FDNY, and MPD to expand that.
Yeah, it'd be great to know more details about what that would look like and what that expansion looks like, because I think we're trying to put relief valves on the system.
And if we can't, you know, in short term, we need to figure out what that is.
And some of these programs can really be those relief valves to take the pressure off the 911 system for people who have emergency needs, but maybe don't need to call an ambulance if there are other tools like the show van, which is out in the neighborhood already,
or other programs that might be available to help people who have acute needs get some support that they need.
Yeah, I do want to redirect back to the virtual express care, which we talked about earlier, about how we help with DMY by answering calls for them and providing care on the spot and also preventing an ambulance from being dispatched to that call originally.
I appreciate that.
All right.
Thank you, chairs.
Thank you.
