Narcisse previews FDNY/H&H testimony and backs health care as a human right
Narcisse says the committees look forward to hearing from FDNY, emergency management, and other representatives about changes since the 2024 hearing and feedback on pending legislation. She thanks committee staff, says the city must lead by example, and calls health care a human right.
Today, we look forward to hearing from New York City Fire Department, New York City,
emergency management and other representatives in the field of emergency management about the alarming state of ambulance response times across the city,
including what changes have been made since the last city council hearing on this topic in 2024.
And other city-supported efforts.
We also seek their feedback on the legislation before the committee today.
Together, we must work to ensure that our city ambulance services are efficient and trustworthy and that they continue to serve our residents with the best possible care.
Like I always said, we call ourselves the capital of the world.
We have to lead by example.
And health care is a human right.
Without your health, you're nothing.
And we each, everyone in this room, can agree to that.
Without your health, you're nothing.
So we have that responsibility to address that.
Before we begin, I'd like to thank committee staff, senior legislative counsel, Ria Agosarara, legislative analyst, Raina Lee, policy analyst, Minna Butt,
financial analyst Molly Howard and assistant director Florentine Cabarro for their hard work in preparing on this hearing and I also like to thank my staff for their hard work
And as we continue to serve our constituents and the city as large.
So we're all responsible to make sure this city is the best city.
So I'll pass it on to my colleague, Chair Ayola.
