Gawar Eki supports 561-A and 562 but opposes 11-A
Eki says his company operates about 2,000 trucks in the metro area and needs Intro 562 for liability transfer. He supports 561-A but says the DPF regeneration provision should be removed, and he opposes 11-A until due process improves.
Good afternoon, Chair Gennaro.
Nice.
Thank you for taking the time.
This has been a long meeting.
I've already sent in my written testimony.
So after sitting through this hearing today, let me just briefly say we support Intro 561A.
We support Intro 562.
We're completely against Intro 11A until this program is straightened out.
I'm in the trucking industry.
We operate around 2,000 trucks in the metro area.
We do not operate those trucks except for 12 service trucks.
We need Intro 562.
And I've attended...
Probably hundreds of oath hearings.
Here's the big problem here.
These complaints that are written by the citizen generally are written to the correct offender.
Name is on the truck with the DOT number.
However, the DEP kicks it to hub.
So then we have to identify the customer, get it to the customer.
We cannot just bill them because this is not a red light camera ticket.
This is intended for the lessee, which is a seven, six to seven year term.
For them to handle.
If they pay it, they pay it.
If they do the hearing or they miss the hearing, then we have to extend it even longer because it goes into default.
As for Intro 561A, all I hear about is DPF regeneration.
DPF regeneration.
Chairman Gennaro,
I've been in this business for 30 years.
You have all the information.
I'll show you how it works and when it works.
But I'll tell you right now, leave it out of the bill.
It doesn't affect us either way.
It's not going to be a defense we're going to use.
We're looking for due process.
I have three violations on my desk right here.
That happened in July of 2025, and the hearing is middle of November.
So 60 days is not an issue.
Thank you.
And we do hear you on that.
And so we appreciate you staying with us long enough to give us the benefit of your views.
They certainly will be.
You know, thoughtfully considered and
We appreciate you bringing them to us.
Thank you so much.
