Timothy David opposes 561-A and calls for health-focused compromise
David, a Hell's Kitchen resident with asthma, says 561-A would weaken a successful air-quality program. He says he understands both sides and hopes everyone ends the day healthy.
Hello, good afternoon.
Excuse me.
Chair members, my name is Timothy David, and I am a resident of Hell's Kitchen and have long time asthma.
I am here today to speak in opposition to proposed 5561A
because it would weaken one of the New York City's most successful air quality enforcement programs.
I have crossed some things out.
From hearing everyone, I really do appreciate everyone's testimony.
and as well as their input.
And I duly understand both sides.
And I'm speaking for myself on behalf of my spouse, who is a member of the New York Clean Air Collective.
And for every day, for many hours, listening and observing all the things that they go through.
I do wish at the end of the day, everyone
will be as healthy and well.
And that's all what I think we all wish for every individual.
And thank you very much again for your time.
Well, thank you.
I mean, for kind of...
For, you know, this is, you know, I think your testimony was kind of like a mission statement for, I think, everybody in this room.
We're coming from different perspectives, but we, you know, want to have as safe and environmentally friendly and pollution-free.
You know, New York City as we possibly can, given the fact that the 8.5 million people that live here and the God knows how many people who are here during every weekday that come into Manhattan to work,
it's a challenge to...
You know, get everything right, but it's always nice to come back and touch home plate.
And I think that's what you did for us here today.
And I appreciate that.
Okay.
You bet.
Best to your wife.
Eileen.
