Chair Riley asks about White Plains Road plan collaboration
He asks how DCP and HPD will collaborate on senior housing, affordable rental, and homeownership in White Plains Road; Garodnick says they will work closely with HPD, have heard community needs, and will figure out mix of programs.
A lot of our industrials traditionally along the waterfront, in addition to housing opportunity.
And so we see a mix of waterfront communities where there's heavy industrial as well as communities that significant housing has been built along the waterfront, including
in the Bronx waterfront where we see a lot more projects emerging along the Harlem River.
At DCP, it's been important for us to ensure that we're evaluating those proposals appropriately relative to the need, that we're making sure that public access along the waterfront remains with private development,
and that we have also recently conducted a survey of New Yorkers to also get their input on the waterfront so we can think about ways to activate that beyond housing.
Thank you.
All right, my last set of questions, White Plains Road.
I wasn't going to leave without that, right?
All right, so Councilmember Dinois and myself have been engaging with DCP regarding White Plains Road.
How will City Plan and HPD collaborate to develop a plan that promotes senior housing, affordable rental housing, and affordable homeownership opportunities?
We have the Ebenezer location, HPD, that's for you, that we've been seeing a lot of challenges with.
But how will City Plan and HPD collaborate to develop a plan that promotes senior housing, affordable rental housing, and affordable homeownership opportunities tailored to the area's needs,
particularly given that our local median household income is below the citywide median household income?
Thank you.
And I know I mentioned this earlier in our hearing, but really appreciate your partnership on White Plains Road and all the attention and detail that you've given as we started that planning process.
